Military Pay Chart 2020

The effective military pay rate for 2020 has finally been cleared out with December 12 announcement. President Donal Trump signed the defense bill that set to be $738 billion for FY 2020. With that being said, the military budget for FY 2020 is increased by $21 billion compared to fiscal 2019.

The legislation includes the long-talked 3.1% increase to the troops. On top of this, it grants paid family leave for all federal workers. Also, the FY 2020 military budget includes the creation of the Space Force as well. While the military pay increase is 3.1% for FY 2020, the increase for next year is proposed to be 3%. Since we still have a long while to go there, we’ll keep you updated as soon as more news emerges.

Largest Pay Raise Since 2010

Since 2011, the military has seen an increase of 1% to 2.6%. The U.S. military service member entered the new decade with a high pay increase. FY 2020 military pay increase is the highest after the 2010’s 3.4% annual pay hike.

The latest defense bill includes other variety of topics other than the ones we covered above. The military housing conditions is expected to get better as the Department of Veterans Affairs gotten a 9% increase in funding. It is also one of the largest budgetary increases not only recently but since the creation of the Department of VA.

All and all, military service members are going to get a hefty increase in 2020. Below, you can see the military pay scale that will be effective from January 1st through the end of the year.
